Online Quiz Rules & Guidelines

1. Overview

The Grand Final of AVIDATOR Maths League 2026 assesses the highest level of mathematical understanding, speed, accuracy, logical thinking, and teamwork among Year 5 students.
This round follows a high-energy game-show format and may be recorded for official Avidator social media platforms and YouTube.

2. Team Composition

  • Total Teams: 5 Qualified Finalist Teams
  • Students per Team: 2
  • Teams qualified from the Semi-Final will compete in the Final.
  • Unless stated otherwise, team members may discuss before answering.

3. Final Round Structure

The Grand Final consists of 5 rounds, announced clearly by the host:

  1. Fastest Finger Maths
  2. Mystery Bag Numbers
  3. Countdown Number Challenge
  4. Number Tracing
  5. Shape Cipher – Code Break

All questions are aligned with the UK Year 5 Maths curriculum and increase gradually in challenge.

4. Time Rules

  • Time per question: 30 seconds
  • A visible or verbal countdown will be given.
  • Answers after the time limit will not be accepted.
  • Break between rounds: 5 minutes
  • Overall introduction: 5 minutes

Total Final Event Duration: 65 minutes (1 hour 5 minutes)

5. Scoring System

  • Correct Answer: +1 point
  • Wrong Answer: 0 points
  • No negative marking
  • Scores are tracked live and verified by judges.

6. Answering Rules

  • Only one answer per team per question is allowed.
  • Answers must be given by the nominated team speaker.
  • Once an answer is given, it cannot be changed.

7. Round-wise Behaviour & Fair Play

Round 1 – Fastest Finger Maths (Individual Rule)

  • Questions are answered individually.
  • No assistance from the team partner is allowed.
  • If assistance is given:
    • No points will be awarded.
    • The assisting participant will lose one turn as a penalty.

Rounds 2 ,3 & 4 – Team Rounds

  • Team discussion is allowed before answering.
  • No shouting or answering out of turn.
  • If a team answers out of turn:
    • No points awarded.
    • One question skipped as penalty.

Round 5 – Shape Cipher (Buzzer Round)

  • Teams must press the buzzer before answering.
  • Answers without buzzing are disqualified.
  • Only the first team to buzz may answer.
  • Wrong or incorrect buzz = no second chance.
  • Audience assistance is strictly prohibited.

The Quiz Master’s decision is final in all cases of rule violations.

8. Tie-Breaker Rule

If teams are tied for winning positions:

  • A Rapid-Fire Tie-Breaker Round will be conducted.
  • Same time and buzzer rules apply.
  • The first correct answer determines the winner.

9. Use of Materials

  • Calculators, mobile phones, smart watches, or notes are not allowed.
  • Pens and paper will be provided only if required by organisers.

10. Host & Judge Authority

  • Decisions of the Quiz Master and Judges are final and binding.
  • Any scoring queries must be raised immediately after the question.

11. Winner Declaration

  • The team with the highest total score at the end of all rounds will be declared

  • Results will be officially announced and validated by judges.

The Semi-Final Round of AVIDATOR Maths League 2026 evaluates the mathematical understanding, speed, accuracy, teamwork, and problem-solving skills of Year 5 students in a structured, fair, and engaging quiz environment.

The quiz follows a game-show / reality-style format and may be recorded for sharing on official Avidator social media and YouTube channels.

2. Team Composition

  • Total Teams: 10
  • Students per Team: 2
  • Teams will be assigned by the organisers on the day of the event at the venue.
  • Unless announced otherwise, both team members may discuss before answering, except where individual rules apply.

3. Round Structure & Question Format

  • The Semi-Final consists of multiple rounds, each clearly announced by the host.
  • Question formats may include:
    • Mental Maths
    • Logical Reasoning
    • Word Problems
    • Visual Questions
    • Rapid-Fire Questions
  • All questions are aligned with the Year 5 Maths curriculum.

4. Time Rules

  • Each question must be answered within 30 seconds.
  • A visible or verbal countdown will be provided.
  • Answers given after time expires will not be accepted.

5. Scoring System

  • Correct Answer: +1 point
  • Wrong Answer: 0 points
  • No negative marking
  • Scores are tracked live and monitored by judges.

6. Answering Rules

  • Only one answer per team per question is permitted.
  • The answer must be delivered by the nominated speaker of the team.
  • Once an answer is given, it cannot be changed or corrected.

7. Behaviour & Fair Play

Round 1 – Individual Answer Rule

  • In Round 1, questions must be answered individually.
  • Team members are not allowed to help the participant in any form.
  • If another team member answers or assists:
    • No points will be awarded, even if the answer is correct.
    • Points will be awarded only to the original participant for whom the question was intended.
    • The assisting participant will lose one question (skipped) as a penalty.

Round 2 – Team Round

  • All teams and participants must demonstrate respectful, disciplined, and sportsmanlike behaviour at all times.
  • No shouting out answers when a question is directed to another team or participant.
  • If a team answers out of turn:
    • No points will be awarded to the faulting team, even if the answer is correct.
    • Points will be awarded only to the team for whom the question was originally intended.
    • One question will be skipped as a penalty for the faulting team.

Round 3 – Buzzer Round

  • Teams must press the buzzer before answering.
  • Answers given without buzzing will be disqualified.
  • Only the first team to press the buzzer is allowed to answer.
  • If a team buzzes incorrectly or answers wrongly, no second attempt is allowed.
  • Audience assistance, prompting, or signalling answers is strictly prohibited.
  • The Quiz Master’s decision is final and may include issuing a warning, skipping a question, or cancelling a turn in case of rule violations.

8. Tie-Breaker Rule

  • In case of a tie, a Rapid-Fire Tie-Breaker Round will be conducted.
  • Tie-breaker questions must be answered quickly and accurately, following the same buzzer and time rules.

9. Use of Materials

  • Calculators, mobile phones, smart watches, or written notes are not allowed.
  • Pens and paper will be provided only if required by the organisers.

10. Host & Judge Authority

  • The Quiz Master and Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
  • Any scoring concerns must be raised immediately after the question concludes.

11. Qualification Rule

  • Only the Top 5 scoring teams from the Semi-Final will qualify for the Grand Finale.
  • Qualification results will be announced by the Quiz Master and validated by the judges.

Avidator Maths League – Online Round
These rules apply to all participants taking part in the Avidator Maths League – Online Quiz Round. Parents and students are requested to read the guidelines carefully before starting the quiz.

1. Eligibility

  • The online quiz is open only to registered students.
  • Students must participate in the age group/category for which they have registered.
  • Entries from unregistered participants will not be accepted.

2. Quiz Access & Submission

  • The quiz must be accessed only through the official quiz link shared via email and published on the website.
  • All mandatory fields in the quiz form must be completed before answering the questions.
  • The quiz form must be submitted only once, after completing all questions.
  • Multiple submissions from the same participant may result in disqualification.

3. Quiz Conduct

  • The quiz must be completed independently by the student.
  • Assistance from parents, siblings, teachers, books, calculators, or online resources is not permitted.
  • Any unfair practice may lead to disqualification.

4. Timing

  • The quiz will open and close strictly according to the timings mentioned on the quiz page.
  • Late submissions will not be accepted once the quiz is closed.
  • Participants are advised to manage their time carefully while answering the questions.

5. Scoring & Selection

  • Scores will be based on the number of correct answers.
  • The top 20 scorers from the online round will qualify for the semi-final round.
  • In the event of a tie in scores, the time taken to complete the quiz will be used as the first tie-break criterion.
  • If a tie still remains after considering completion time, an additional online tie-breaker round will be conducted. This will be announced only if required.

6. Results Announcement

  • Results will be shared via email on February 2nd at 10:00 AM.
  • Shortlisted participants will receive further information regarding the next round.

7. Documents for Shortlisted Participants

  • Parents of shortlisted students will be required to submit additional documents for participation in the semi-final round.
  • Details and submission timelines will be communicated separately.

8. Certificates

  • All participants who complete the online quiz will receive a Certificate of Participation.
  • Certificates will be issued digitally.

9. Technical Issues

  • Participants are responsible for ensuring a stable internet connection and a suitable device.
  • The organisers will not be responsible for incomplete submissions due to technical or connectivity issues.

10. Organiser’s Discretion

  • Avidator reserves the right to amend rules, disqualify entries, or make final decisions regarding the quiz and results.
  • All decisions made by the organisers will be final and binding.
